Overall, I think these are a good value and would recommend them for casual TV viewing especially to help someone who has trouble hearing at normal volume levels. There is some noticeable background hiss, which gets worse as you get close to 90 degrees off axis from the IR transmitter on the base. Since these are IR rather than RF, they do require line of sight to the transmitter but range within the same room doesn't seem to be a problem. I bought this for my grandfather who has lost most of his hearing. They would not be a good replacement for wired headphones if you really care about audio quality. For less than $50, I was pleased with the quality of these headphones. It allows him to watch TV with the volume way up using the headphones. They are easy to use.
I give it a 5 from a 0 to 10 scale. Thanks. The headset it not comfortable, there is a little static in the background in low volumes, and the volume control knob is hard to get to when I am using the headst.I thought for a Sony name brand, it be better. I am a little disappointed with this one. First one had problem and was replaced under warranty, which Amazon did a FANTASTIC job of handling it.
Other than that for the price they are great. The headphone earpads fell off so now we have to wear them bare and its not the most comfortable. The super padded ones are $200 dollars and this was only $40 so you definitely get what you pay for but the quality of sound is great and they do the job. My dad had these headphones so I went out and bought them too. I like the idea of it and they were really well we have had them for over a year now with only one complaint.
For each pair, the left channel has suddenly quit working after two-three years of daily use. I've owned three pair of these headsets.
It works perfect and I highly recommend it. I bought this item a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVE it.
